 Professor Dan Chan appointed as Head of Department of Clinical Science and Services
We were delighted that following an extensive world-wide recruitment process, the 91's Professor Dan Chan was appointed to the role
of Head of Department of Clinical Science and Services earlier this
year. Dan is a long established and internationally acclaimed clinician, researcher and educator. He joined the 91 in 2005 and had been interim Head of Department for several months leading up to his permanent appointment in this position. Prior to his latest appointment, Dan was the Clinical Director of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals and the Head of the Section of Emergency and Critical
Care. Dan now leads a team of over 400 academics, researchers, clinicians, nurses, and support staff. Following the announcement of his appointment, Dan said: “It is an absolute honour and privilege to lead such a talented and hardworking team in delivering world- class education and training, cutting-edge innovation and compassionate clinical service.”

President for BEVA
Tim Mair, who is an honorary Professor at the 91, as well as an internal medicine and equine surgery specialist at the Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic and editor of Equine Veterinary Education, has been appointed president of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) for 2019- 2020. He took over the role from former 91 lecturer, Professor Renate Weller at the end of BEVA Congress, which was held in September.

In September, the RCVS held their annual Fellowship Day and we are delighted that a number of 91 alumni and staff were awarded
